Our Story

Late in 2024 the Chesapeake Presbytery Missions committee reminded the brethren that it had been many years since establishing a new church within her bounds. They encouraged anyone with interest in Church planting to speak with them. The pastor of Grace Point Presbyterian Church, TE Joshua Sillaman, and the session of Grace Point met with the committee to explore planting a new church in western Anne Arundel County. In January 2025 the committee announced this burgeoning enterprise and exhorted anyone interested in participating to get in contact with them. RE Bradley Chwastyk, a licentiate and ordination candidate met with TE Sillaman and soon realized that they both were in total agreement about the nature of the Church of Christ and its ministry, and they were both feeling a call from the Lord to see more biblically faithful churches filling the areas of our county which are devoid of doctrinally sound, Christ-honoring congregations. After attending a PCA MNA Explore church planting conference in March of 2025, they girded their loins and set themselves to the work of obeying the call of Christ to see a new church planted. RE Chwastyk began to speak with the other PCA churches in the county and soon learned that many of them were excited to participate in just such an endeavor.

Prayer gatherings began in June of 2025 in the home of Bradley and Ashley Chwastyk and continued through August. Monthly gatherings were hosted at Grace Point Presbyterian church to share the vision for this new church plant with any who were interested. By November, five PCA churches committed to participation in this work of the gospel - Broadneck Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Annapolis, Grace Point Presbyterian Church, Severn Run Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and Pasadena Evangelical Presbyterian Church. With great generosity and sacrifice the churches pledged support, spiritual and financial, for the church plant, and in January 2025, Grace Point Presbyterian Church made an office available for the new church's planter and offered free use of their campus for the new church's gatherings and events. RE Chwastyk was chosen by Grace Point to lead this effort alongside their pastor, TE Sillaman.

In January of 2026, Bradley and Ashley participated in the PCA MNA Ministry Discovery (Church Planter Assessment) and were blessed with an invigorated sense of calling to plant Saints Haven, receiving their recommendation. On February 1st, 2026, nearly 75 people (potential members and supporters) gathered at Grace Point for the first Saints Haven Presbyterian Church Lord's Day worship service. We have been worshiping nearly every Lord's Day evening since with a congregation of around 35-45 individuals. On May 12th, 2026, at the 111th Stated meeting of the Chesapeake Presbytery, Missions Committee brought forth a motion, which upon its approval, granted us Mission Status (BCO 5-2.ii), establishing us as an official mission work.

Our Church Planter

At that same meeting of the Chesapeake Presbytery, the brethren approved licensed Ruling Elder Bradley James Chwastyk to serve as the minister of the new mission work, Saints Haven Presbyterian Church.

RE Chwastyk desperately loves the Lord Jesus Christ and is humbled and thrilled his King has called him to serve as the planter of Saints Haven. He has been a member of the PCA his whole life, came under care as a candidate for gospel ministry in 2010, was licensed to preach in 2014, and has served as an officer in the PCA since 2014. He serves as the Chesapeake Presbytery recording clerk, a member of the Presbytery's Standing Judicial Commission, and has served on the PCA Nominations Committee, Committee for Review of Presbytery Records, Overtures Committee, and other Committee of Commissioners (CDM, AC, CTS). He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Rowan University (2005), and a Master of Divinity from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (2025). He has been engaged full-time in the work of planting Saints Haven since January 1st, 2026. RE Chwastyk is currently undergoing the ordination trials of the Chesapeake Presbytery and is looking forward to the Lord bringing that to conclusion in the September 2026 Stated meeting with ordination and installation shortly thereafter.

Mr. Chwastyk has been married to his goodly wife Ashley for 17 years and has been blessed with two godly sons, Gabriel and Judah. They live in Millersville, MD with their two doodles (Gizmo and Luna) and are eager to be used by God in this way.
